Biography

Roescheisen is a multimedia artist, a humanist & philanthropist. Her work includes video, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, installation & performance art.

Roescheisen’s work was exhibited in galleries worldwide, including the 56th Venice Biennale. From 2012-2016 she was performing “Systema Occam” by contemporary artist Xavier Veilhan. This performance was shown at the MAMO, the Delacroix Museum, the Hermès Foundation, the FIAF in NY, to name a few.

In 2016, Time Out New York named her as one of the top 10 emerging artists to follow.

Roescheisen’s multimedia works are held together by underlying concepts such as iconography, poetry, literature, Medieval art, German Romanticism, Gothic architecture, the fairytale, the inspection of dream and reality, the visible and invisible world. Above all her work deals with the observation, reflection and investigation of humans and their emotions. Roescheisen uses her art as a tool to bring humans back to their "Emotional Truth".

“Art, is a non verbal, universal & free language, that raises awareness & emotional truth. Where the simple word is often stuck in the brain, the artistic visual language is piercing on the emotional body & therefore opens up a total new lecture, liberty & thus responsible thinking.”

Text about "What are you Fishing for?"
Shared melancholy, orchestrated coldness, truth without a mask, Annina Roescheisen plunges us into the heart of the union between a man and a woman. In a cinematic narrative, the mental landscape which is the synthesis of the artist’s physical and symbolic inner sanctum projects a combination of two aesthetics.

Unspoken emotion reflected in assumed slowness, buried sentiment and cold-hearted iciness are almost death-like in stillness. Yet nature awakens the subject, slowly melting the ice…a salutary sense of peace, duality without hindrance. The purity of the youthful subject is depicted, white personified becoming one with the water, linked to the inner purpose of heavy earth, without gravity, awaiting a silent reverie… throughout the course…

Floating, existing below the surface, the shroud changes. The fabric is heavy and black, there is warmth in the face, some snippets of roses, aquatic life recalls her… Continuous rebirth…

The beginnings of an imperceptible, tangible link that has been achieved, solidified sculpture becomes malleable, it unleashes a story, instigates rebirth, reconnects consciences… Biographical anonymity, fleeting glances; while the image is silent, the bodies are shouting hope…
Freedom regained…
